Humanity is infected with an unknown disease. Those who are affected by the virus experience cerebral atrophy, their cognitive functions gradually deteriorate until they reach a state of complete mental decay. As this can take years most people do not even notice it, and the governments of WHO countries are silent in order to avoid panic. You have most certainly noticed yourself that the general intelligence level of humanity is dramatically dropping.
